People always say (or assume) that if your going to Nevada from Utah, you are going to Wendover to gamble. Gambling in Wendover, Nevada is like driving 2 hours to the middle of the desert to hang out in some big crappy smokey building. Boring..We drove to Ely, Nevada and it took about 2 hours. The drive is very dusty and the dry Seveir Lake was probably the most intersting thing we saw. There were about 2 other people on the road.   When we finally reached Ely, I noticed many super divey bars. And plenty of ridiculous casinos. The nice thing about Ely is that the casinos aren’t mega casinos. (mega casino - the big casinos such as Tropicana, Luxor, Peppermill) In fact we ended up staying in Club Nevada, an interesting place with plenty of character.  35$ for a night at Club Nevada, which I don’t think you can beat. Thats cheaper than staying at Super 8.Walking in I noticed about 20 people sitting at the casino bar (all over the age of 50) drinking liquor and smoking cigarettes. Not gambling, just yelling about Dallas beating the Eagles. My kinda place. Hunting season in Ely.About an hour later when I ran out to the car for something, we saw some hunter looking guys all carrying rifles walk in. I guess they aren’t too worried about the place getting held up.
