Mixed Drinks 31Jan08 | 0

After living in Puerto Rico for a couple weeks we started buying liquor and mixing drinks. We found that beer here is expensive with the exception of Medalla Light, which sells for about 9 bucks for a 12 pack. Rum is about the cheapest liquor you can get. About 750 ML of clear Palo Veijo goes for around 7 dollars. Its decent rum and its local (San Juan) too.

  • H.B. Rex - 3 dashes a cup of sugar free Crystal Light peach tea mix fill with tap water, add Palo Veijo clear Puerto Rican Rum
  • Tang-o-Rama - 1 table spoon of Tang brand Tang, Fill cup 3 quarters up then add Palo Veijo clear Puerto Rican Rum
  • The Water and rum- Half tap water half Palo Veijo clear Puerto Rican Rum
  • Goya Bomb- Half Goya Tropical fruit punch nectar (out of the can), half Palo Veijo Clear Puerto Rican Rum
  • Bang a Rang Rex - wyler’s light lemonade half a packet at the bottom of the glass then add desired amount of Palo Veijo clear Puerto Rican rum swirl around in counter clockwise motion 7 times then clockwise 3 or until rum looks sweetened, add tap water (full 16 oz glass).
  • Pineapple Bookaaha - 1 quarter cup Goya pineapple juice (out of the can) and fill the rest of the cup up with Palo Veijo clear Puerto Rican rum. Yeah, rum goes fast with this drink.

Diy Hammock 29Jan08 | 3

We needed a hammock on the back porch and I was not willing to shell out 30 dollars for one. So I made one out of a blanket and some rope (the rope was used to for hanging clothes to dry).

Well ours doesn’t have mesh or canvas and I think it looks more like a stretcher than a hammock but it gets the job done plus its pretty comfortable. I made an illustration to explain the process little better.

I would recommend downloading this file and printing it. Keep it in your wallet because you never know when you are going to need to make a hammock.

The Museo De Arte De Puerto Rico. You aren’t supposed to be taking pictures inside, but we snuck a couple. All art here is done by artists from Puerto Rico.

Up on the 4th floor there are more great installation peaces that you simply must see for your self.

This old church 24Jan08 | 0

Earlier I went for a walk down in Santurce, which is not far from here. I found this old church. There is a lot of detail in the front area, it just needs a little love.

Hangin with the Kids 23Jan08 | 0

We went down to Salvation Army to pick up a couple things. There were so many people on the bus that these kids were standing right next to us and I ended up playing “flick the can” with them.

Don’t worry I have never heard of this game either. Apparently you just flick the opener on the top of the soda can (I forgot what it is called) untill it breaks off. And I am assuming that person looses the game. I won. Which means I am a better flicker than those kids. If only there were money on the table.

It is interesting how the language barrier works and these kids knew I couldn’t speak their language yet were so willing to let me play with them.

These things were everywhere yesterday. I am assuming because of all the rain we have been getting lately. Probably poisonous. LOOK AT THOSE COLORS!
