I am a native Utahn who moved to Puerto Rico about a month ago. I saved up some money, was planning on getting a job (that fell through), and just flew out here. We got an apartment in Ocean Park, maybe 3 blocks from the beach and are living it up. I will try to post as much as I can about the art, and culture difference of P.R., but my internet connection is typically limited to the neighbor (usually just a bar or 2 of wifi). If you ever go on a Caribbean cruise hit me up, I will show you around.
Driving around in Salt Lake City I usually glance at the billboards. This is how they looked for a section of I-15 :BAM! Get checked with Central bank! The time is 6:40 pm, Current temp is -3 Celsius. ZAP! Get hot clothes at Blue Boutique! WHAM! In loving memory of Brian D. Reagan loving, father, son, husband. 1979 - 2007.
I looked up billboard in the dictionary and this is what it came up with..
billboard |ˈbilˌbôrd|noun a large outdoor board for displaying advertisements.
Wait a sec. Am I the only one that thinks that this is sort of strange? I mean it sucks when people die young, but who the heck is Brian D. Reagan. Even if a famous person died you wouldn’t see a sign advertising for you to remember him after death, let alone a billboard.
After doing a little research with my trusty google. I found out that he worked for Reagan outdoor signs before his death. That explains a lot. Apparently, they thought it would be a good idea to put his face on about 5 billboards (that I saw). Seems a little disrespectful to me. So anyways the moral of the story is, if you work for a billboard company, you may want to check the box that says “check here if you die, and you don’t want us to put your face on a bunch of billboards up and down I-15″
Here is a link to the actual obituary on Deseret News.
I work early in the morning. Honestly, too early for anyone to be awake. I have to be to work by 5 which means I wake at 3 and leave Santaquin by 4.
Anyways we arrived in Sandy and started working. A co-worker noticed a truck parked next to my dads truck identical to it. He assumed my dad knew them or something since both trucks doors were open.
We later noticed that my dads truck had been broken into. At 6 a.m. in the morning.I thought it was interesting that they broke in at that time. I’m assuming they were on their way to work when they saw my dads truck and thought “I think I will break into that truck, and I will steal one crappy flashlight”. Or perhaps they were taking their kids to school, and they said to their kids “kids, I am getting you a flashlight, no matter what the cost”.
We later noticed that the very same person who broke into my dads truck also took his back license plate. That totally ruins what I thought happened.
We called the cops, They came over and told my dad to remove both plates and they will report them stolen. The cop said to not worry about getting a ticket for having no license plates then handed him this..
(The cops name and phone number on the back)
So, next time you are in Sandy Utah, I would recommend getting a lock for your license plate. Like these.. I recommend gold for bling factor.
I have been trying to figure out this Cannon Ft out for the past couple of weeks. The first roll I went to wind and didn’t notice there was a release on the bottom, ended up advancing it past the film canister and couldn’t get it back it. Trash..
The next roll I was carefull to read instructions first press button and rewind. About half of the pictures turned out (I took a lot inside the print shop where I work. I found that artificial lighting sucks. Only outdoor from now on.) In fact, I think after I get through these 8 rolls of film, I will go to black and white.Everyone I know who has an slr, has a digital.
Owning a digital slr would be nice however, the $600+ price tag doesn’t entice me much. I do kind of like the fact of not knowing how the pictures are going to turn out.
The camera weighing a pound and a half is a bit of a downfall, though.
Which reminds me. I got that unofficial Justin Timberlake Collaborations album a couple weeks ago. Most of the tracks were songs that I already knew (all of the Timberland stuff). There is a track on there that Justin Timberlake sings with Reba. Wtf? Peep it.
Ever since Chromeo - Fancy Footwork came out I have been obsessed with that whole 80’s super dance pop sound . Quick side note: The 80’s were the best for super rad electro - dancey pop music. The era of Michael (the king of pop) Jackson and prince. So naturally when Private came out with a new album on October 8th I was obsessed within the first 8 seconds. Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark and reached number one on the danish pop charts. Was mixed by the guy from Basement Jaxx.
Pocatello, Idaho. Already had a museum about cleaning, only now its gonna be bigger than ever. Set to open late 2007. The new location will have 50,000 square feet of cleaning goodness and will feature workshops and other educational opportunities. On top of all that they will have some awesome pre electric cleaning stuff. Such as this roller pin looking thing.
I don’t know what it does, but I am pretty sure its old. Somebody was telling me they are going to teach kids how to clean their room, but I can’t confirm that one. Here is the new building they are planning on renovating.
I think I will make a trip to this museum in late 2007. Oh wait! Today is late 2007! Who is coming with me!
Yeah, so I made another bag. Probably my best work yet. All materials (except for buttons) bought from thrift stores. The strap was a dog leash. The maroon fabric was a pillow cover. And the asian themed stuff was in the fabric isle. (I think they were curtains) The three buttons on the flap don’t do anything, only for looks. Attention to detail.. Thats my motto.
